Personal Care Funding
As of January 2026 if you have less than £23,250 in savings, you may be eligible for help towards the cost of care. The amount of help you receive from the council will depend on what care is needed, and how much you are able to pay towards the care yourself.
The council will carry out a free needs assessment to assess how much help you require. If care is required, the council will then carry out a financial assessment to determine what you will need to contribute.
Paying for care (Taken from the Brighton & Hove City Council Website January 2026:
Most people have to pay towards their community care. The amount you pay depends on your circumstances.
We work out how much you'll pay by carrying out a financial assessment. We call the amount you pay your ‘client contribution’.
It’s important to give full and accurate details of your finances, so you pay a fair amount.
